Lil Deb’s Oasis on the east end of Columbia Street is one of our favorite spots for food and ambience—spicy and unexpected. Same day reservations recommended.

Feast & Floret on 3rd near Warren, just around the corner from us, is also a favorite for ambience of an entirely different kind—mellow, earthy, and European. Advance reservations recommended.

Diner is located at the southeast corner of the park on the east end of Warren Street. Excellent and casual. Started by the people behind Mel’s bakery and The Meat Hook.

Ambos is spectacular new Argentinian restaurant in the newly opened Pocketbook Factory at the corner of Washington and 7th. Reserve.

Swoon is a James Beard Award winning spot for dinner on Warren between 3rd and 4th. Reservations recommended. Takeout available.

Manor Rock is an exquisite farm to table restaurant serving their own pork, among other delicate dishes. Reserve.

Kitty's, across from the Amtrak station, serves fresh seasonal fare.

Rivertown Lodge offers outdoor dining in temperate months and is a reliable spot for high quality local and farm-inspired cuisine.

Banque is a chocolateria that serves lunch and dinner in a beautifually renovated former bank building that looks like a Milanese cafe from a bygone era.

Via Cassia on Warren Street serves pasta and salads.

Isaan Thai Star on 7th Street is quick and tasty. They deliver.

Casa Latina on Green Street is reliable for Mexican, and they offer takeout.

The Maker Lounge, with a discreet entrance on 3rd Street, serves exquisite cocktails and sometimes features a live pianist.

The Hereafter, on the east end of Columbia Street right after the park, is a cozy place for drinks and nibbles.

Governor's Tavern, which is also near the park square, is an old bar formerly known as The Iron Horse, a location in the Paul Newman movie Nobody's Fool.

The Half Moon on Front Street, named after Henry Hudson's ship, is a popular local hangout and also a pizzeria. Bands, DJs, dance parties.

Back Bar is a big outdoor beer and cocktail garden serving something along the lines of pan-Asian-fusion-street-food on Warren between 3rd and 4th.

The Red Dot, on Warren between 3rd and 4th, is a longtime local bar, going back decades.

Bar Bene is a wine bar tucked behind a storefront on Warren near 4th.

Breweries abound in town. Check out Return Brewing and Upper Depot, across from each other on State Street, Hudson Brewing Company in the warehouse near Basilica down by the riverfront, and Union Street Brewing on the east end of town.

CAFES, BRUNCH, LUNCH

Cafe Mutton, located on the far end of Columbia Street a couple of doors from Lil Deb's is a favorite brunch spot.

Check out Cannonball Factory in the alley between Warren and Columbia on the block between 3rd and 4th for a mini food hall. Yummy Kitchen serves ramen and curry there, and Lev & Ida's serves sandwiches. Communal tables.

For takeout sandwiches, we recommend Mel's Bakery and Talbott & Arding, which also offers a variety of prepared foods.

The Maker Café is right around the corner on Warren and 3rd, serving excellent coffee and pastries, as well as lunch fare.

Kitty’s Market on Front Street, across from the train station serves excellent coffee, as well as house-made donuts and tatertots (and some healthier options, too)—all fantastic.

Le Perche on Warren between 3rd and 2nd serves excellent coffee and house pastries, as well as sit-down brunch and lunch in the garden.

El Sabor de Oaxaca on Warren between 3rd and 4th serves Oaxacan specialities and offers takeout.
