GROCERIES, MARKETS, WINE & LIQUOR

Grocery stores

Rolling Grocer on 2nd Street just south of Warren towards Union is a small but good grocer serving the local population. You'll find fresh produce, frozen foods, including some meats, and bulk pantry items there.

For larger, chain retailers, one must drive or take a taxi to neighboring Greenport for the Aldi or Shop Rite. There is also a Price Chopper in nearby Chatham.

Farther afield, but worth the drive, is the Berkshire Food Co-op in Great Barrington, and Guido's Market, also in Great Barrington. Both have excellent selections of fresh produce and meats, as well as cheeses, baked goods, prepared foods, and alcohol.

Farm stores & markets

The Hudson Farmers Market runs every Saturday from late spring until Thanksgiving in the municipal parking lot at Columbia and 6th Street. In the off season, you can find it in the Lyons Club by Hudson High. Local and regional vendors, excellent selection, fair prices, and occasional musical entertainment.

Berry Farm is a good food store in Chatham attached to an organic farm and greenhouse with an excellent plant store.

The Hawthorne Valley Farm Store is part of a biodynamic farm and Waldorf school. You can buy spices, rice, and flour there—whatever you might expect from a health food store—as well as their own dairy products and bakery goods. They offer produce, but generally not as much or of the same quality as other area shops.

Miller's Crossing, on the way to the Hawthorne Valley Farm Store but much closer to Hudson, is a farm with a shop selling a few select greens and produce, delicacies, and frozen meats and pizzas. Good quality and lower prices than Hawthorne Valley but smaller inventory. Great place to buy plants and seasonal flowers.
